Building Academic Foundations
Shepherd Community Academy serves children from K4 – 5th grade with small class sizes and wrap-around support. The Shepherd Community Academy Pre-School (K4) is a Paths to Quality Level 2 Program, and our elementary school is fully accredited through performance-based accreditation until June 30, 2028. Since opening in 2002, the Academy has cared for the physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic needs of kids on the near Eastside of Indianapolis—offering students a strong foundation for future success.
Our teachers ensure that every child at Shepherd Community Academy has the instruction he or she needs to thrive and develop in every subject. Each student receives personal attention and a plan to support their academic progress. An active group of volunteers also connects with our students every week, building relationships through reading, games, and activities. The Academy’s nurturing environment helps students develop a love for learning and the confidence to keep improving throughout their years at school.
Giving children a strong start
Shepherd Community Academy carefully chooses its curriculum, which focuses on foundational skills like reading, math, and problem-solving while also offering enrichment in the arts and sciences. All our materials meet rigorous academic standards. As a result, our students consistently test at or above grade level, and the vast majority pass the I-Read assessment the first time they take it in 3rd grade.
